The Prez Sez:

Greetings fellow bicycling fanatics and Fresno Cycling Club members!

Wow, can you believe it? We are already a month into 2021 and we are still being impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.  Masks and social distancing are the new normal. The only place to get solace is to get out on a bike ride.

But even our bike rides have to be approached with caution: riding individually or in small groups of those that you know are healthy is the best practice. In our area we have been fortunate to have a healthy group of riders.  Healthy because they ride a lot, and that have never let the pandemic stop them from riding.  In fact I know of very few of our members that have been impacted by the Covid virus to date.

The Rough Draft

Your Membership Renewal Date:

For years, our club had promoted club rides through the use of this monthly newsletter, the ROUGH DRAFT.  It was the only source for the monthly Ride Calendar. A few years ago, we took the Ride Calendar online at our website (  Prior to the pandemic, that schedule had rides galore daily, weekly and monthly. The website Ride Calendar was a big jump from the times of the monthly hard-copy newsletter with the ride calendar.

Back then, not so long ago, the Ride Calendar had to be made up well in advance so that it could be sent out with the Rough Draft. Now the ride calendar is updated continuously and is available to all members on our website, . Another location to find rides that has become more popular with many of our members are the various groups using Facebook.

The Facebook groups include:

  • FCC All-Roads Riders and Friends
  • Fresno Cycling Club Rides
  • FCC “A” Train rides

Facebook Messenger groups

  • Mountain Men/Women
  • Spin-off Cycling

The Kirch Flat Century Rides, May 1, 2021, is our first Club event on the calendar.  We are planning as if we will be able to have the Kirch Flat Century. I think with what we know about this pandemic, as well as the fact that there seems to be a reduction in new cases, we should be able to proceed with proper planning.

The Climb to Kaiser requires much more planning, so until we know for sure that it can be held we will be holding off on opening up registration.

We’ll keep you posted with other events as things hopefully open up more in the coming months.  That’s all for now. See you on the road. Be safe.

   Best regards,

The Prez: Dennis Ball

If you’re looking for rides, be sure to check out the FCC Ride Calendar. We have various Ride Groups regularly having rides to help you get out and get some exercise. You've got to keep those riding legs, heart and lungs in shape.

Local Bike Shops and Other Friends

For many of us, eating and riding are the two major things in life.  We all rely on and support our local bike shops.  These are the people dedicated to making sure that we can all safely enjoy what we do.  A few local restaurants and other supporters go out of their way to accommodate cyclists.  Please be sure to support these folks, and tell them you are an FCC Member!
