Greetings Fresno Cycling Club members
Greetings and best wishes for the Holiday Season to all our bicycling community, especially to our dedicated Club Members who are faithfully involved in activities of the club. It has been so great to get back to some semblance of normalcy this year, hosting all of our bicycling events and having a lot of club rides this year without restrictions. - The Prez, Dennis Ball

We look forward to seeing everyone at this year’s FCC Christmas Party, being held at the Clovis Veterans Memorial District building on Sunday Dec. 4th, 2022, at 6 pm.
|
|
It would certainly be great if we could host a party for all members to attend, but we would have to have a full buy-in to secure a venue to house 1000+ members! Alas, we have found that somewhere around 100 to 130 of our club members are interested in attending the annual party. We’ve secured the Veteran’s Memorial building, which can accommodate 120. Those 120 do have a fantastic time enjoying a great catered meal, fun fellowship, entertainment, and the fun raffle for valuable prizes. Even though prices elsewhere have gone sky high, we were still able to keep the cost to attend the party at $15.00 per person.

Own an E-Bike, or thinking of getting one?
From Club Member Janet Manuszak-Lucido: "I am on a committee at work regarding liability coverage for E-bikes. We’ve discussed that most insurance companies are excluding coverage for all E-bikes. However, there is often an endorsement that can be purchased, or the E-bike can often be added to your personal articles schedule. Anyone who has an E-Bike should check with their agent." – Janet is also the FCC Club Secretary.

FCC ANNUAL NEW YEARS DAY "MUFFIN" RIDE
What better way to start the New Year than to get out on your bike and have a great ride with fellow bicyclists. The ride this year will be on Sunday January 1, 2023. This ride has been an annual event no matter what the weather - be it rain, fog, or beautiful sunshine - for as long as I can remember. The ride will start at 10:00 am from the Steven’s Bicycles parking lot at the N/W corner of Willow and Nees. The first stop is Lost Lake Park, for some warm refreshments and camaraderie. From there, there will be several routes to enjoy some additional riding, or head back to Steven’s. You can do any one of the following:
- Return back to Steven’s parking lot - 20 miles
- Ride to Spring Valley School and back - 40 mIles
- Ride to the Back side of Millerton - 30+ miles
- Ride the Circuit Route CW (clockwise) - 35 Miles
This ride is open to all bicyclists who can ride at least 20 miles whether an FCC member or not. TO DO THE RIDE YOU MUST REGISTER and sign the waiver: https://fresnocycling.com/event-5027776

WHAT'S THE VALUE OF CLUB MEMBERSHIP?
Every so often I come across riders that I don't recognize. When I ask them if they are a Club member, the typical response (if they aren't), is "no, I ride alone" or "I have a small group that I ride with." It's great that they are getting out and riding, but why do so many people think that membership in the Club is not for them? Likely, they just aren't aware of the value of Club Membership. At the current rate of $35 per year for Individuals, that equates to $3 a month. For a family at $50 per year, it equates to a bit over $4 a month. So, for less than a cup of coffee a month you get all the benefits of membership. These include:
Quarterly meetings with opportunities to enjoy cycling fellowship and cycling related programs.
Monthly newsletter with information on club activities, rides, and special events.
- Participate in club rides. We conduct rides for our members almost every day, 10 to 20 a week, nearly 1,000 a year throughout the Central Valley, in the nearby Sierra Mountain areas, on the Central coast and where ever ride opportunities occur. Rides are designed for a wide range of bicycling ability and interests. Visitors may attend one ride before becoming a member (requirement of signed insurance waiver).
- Opportunity to participate in the annual Club Member-Only rides; “New Year’s Day Ride”, the “Tour de Lakes”, "The Annual 17 Mile Drive Ride in Pacific Grove", and others.
- Club activities; Annual picnic in the summer and the Annual Christmas Party in December.
- Use of Facebook/Messenger groups to communicate with fellow members and others in the Cycling Community to set up rides.
- Limited Injury insurance coverage on all Club sponsored rides.
- 10% Member discount at The Bike Shop at Woodward Park.
- 10% Member discount at The Trek Bicycle Store.
- A chance to be a part of the FCC Advocacy Team to work with State and Local governments to improve bicycle infrastructure and bicycle related laws.
